成语形式简洁,表达能力极强。在文学作品中,成语或在对话中用来刻画人物形象,或用于描写之中,增添文章的文学性。中西方语言文化的巨大差异使成语英译一直是一个难题,杨氏夫妇对《儒林外史》中成语的翻译灵活巧妙,值得借鉴推广,本文通过对杨译《儒林外史》中成语的翻译策略分析,旨在为广大翻译工作者提供可行的成语英译方法。
Idioms form simple, very strong expression. In literary works, idioms or in dialogues are used to characterize characters or to use them in descriptions to add literary character to articles. The great difference between Chinese and western languages and cultures makes English translation of idioms a difficult topic. The translation of idioms in The Scholars is flexible and ingenious, which is worthy of reference and promotion. This article, through the translation of the idioms translated by Yang in The Scholars Strategy analysis, aims to provide the majority of translators workable English translation of idioms.
