黄心川先生是我国当代著名的东方学家,对东方哲学、宗教,特别是印度哲学、宗教有着系统深入的研究,主要著作有《印度哲学史》、《印度近现代哲学》、《印度佛教哲学》、《印度龙树大学讲演集》(英文)等19种;主编《中国大百科全书·宗教卷》、《中国大百科全书·哲学卷》(分科主编、编委)、《南亚大辞典》、《宗教辞典》(副主编)、《当代亚太宗教》、《现代东方哲学》和《玄奘研究文集》等,此外,发表论文130余篇,其中一部分已经被译成英文、日文、韩文、越南文、孟加拉文等。他主编的《世界十大宗教》获1988年全国优秀图书奖和中国社会科学院优秀成果奖。他撰写的《隋唐时期中国与朝鲜佛教的交流——新罗来华僧侣考》获第四届国际佛教学术奖和中国社会科学院优秀科研成果奖。2006年,年近八旬的黄先生荣膺中国社会科学院首批荣誉学部委员。不久前,本刊记者对黄先生进行了专访。
Mr. Huang Xinchuan is a well-known Orientalist in our country. He studied systematically Oriental philosophy, religion, especially Indian philosophy and religion. His major works include “History of Indian Philosophy”, “Indian Modern Philosophy”, “Indian Buddhist Philosophy” , “IndiaLongshu UniversityLecture Collection” (English), 19 kinds; editor of the “Encyclopedia of China religious volume”, “Encyclopedia of China philosophy volume” (branch editor, editorial board), “South Asia Dictionary”, “ Religious Dictionaries (Associate Editor), Religions in Contemporary Asia-Pacific, Modern Oriental Philosophy and Xuanzuan Research Papers, etc. In addition, more than 130 papers have been published, some of which have been translated into English, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese Man, Bengali, etc. He is the editor of the ”World’s Ten Religions“ by the 1988 National Excellent Book Award and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Outstanding Achievement Award. His ”Communication of Buddhism between China and North Korea during the Sui and Tang Dynasties - A Study of Silla Monks in Silla" won the 4th International Buddhist Academic Award and Outstanding Scientific Research Achievement Award of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. In 2006, Mr. Huang, who was nearly eighty years old, was awarded the first honorary member of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Not long ago, correspondents interviewed Mr. Huang.
