As a theory of human evolution, memetics has provided a new perspective for the study of cultural transmission. From the perspective of memetics, cross-cultural communication of sports means to pass a sports culture memes into a different cultural environment so as to transcend the cultural gap, replicate accurately and survive successfully. Using memetics to study the spread of western sports culture in our country will focus on its selection, adaptation and mutation in our cultural environment. Memetics of Western sports culture is a memetic complex. Dawkins argues that memetics, as a replication factor, must possess three characteristics of heredity, mutation and selection. The meme of sports culture is hereditary: it has been continuously transmitted to Chinese and foreign readers for two thousand years; it has the variability: the memes are constantly changing in the process of communication; adaptive: only those sports culture memes adapting to the Chinese cultural environment It can be successfully copied and disseminated. Therefore, the dissemination of sports culture is a process of evolution in line with the evolutionary law. This paper mainly explores the dynamic evolutionary process of this choice, adaptation and mutation, and explains the reasons.
