作者通过对完全胃肠外营养中糖代谢有关问题进行了系统的调研，回顾了在寻求理想的碳水化合物的过程中的研究历史和现状，展望了未来的研究方向，并对ＴＰＮ中糖代谢异常的两种主要表现形式即高血糖状态和低血糖反应的病理生理改变、临床表现、发病原因和防治等问题等进行了全面的综述。
