荷兰西邻北海 ,背靠欧洲腹地 ,是海洋产业十分发达的一个低地国家 ,全国有一半的土地位于海平面以下。长期以来 ,在与海洋的斗争中 ,荷兰人民积累了认识海洋、治理海洋的丰富经验 ,是世界上海洋科学和海洋技术相当先进的国家之一 ;在海岸带综合治理方面 ,更居于世界领先地位。
Behind the European hinterland, the Netherlands lies to the west of the North Sea to the west, a lowland country with a developed marine industry. Half the country’s land is below sea level. For a long time, in the struggle against the sea, the Dutch people have accumulated rich experience in understanding the oceans and governing the oceans. They are among the most advanced countries in marine science and marine technology in the world. They have also become the world leader in integrated coastal zone management .
