兰斯顿·休斯早期的美学思想体现了浓厚的黑人美学特征,具有强烈的种族政治意蕴。休斯认为,黑人艺术应该发现和表现黑人民族的美,而美源于对黑人民族及其生活的发现;美的本质在于真,生活之真可以转化为艺术之美。他关于“真”的观点基于三个信念:黑人艺术要面向真实生活,黑人艺术要有独立的审美标准,黑人艺术要揭示生活本质。休斯的美学思想反映了他在哈莱姆文艺复兴时期的艺术追求和社会理想。
Langston Hughes early aesthetic thinking reflects a strong black aesthetic characteristics, with a strong racial and political implications. Hughes believes that black art should discover and express the beauty of black peoples, while beauty stems from the discovery of black peoples and their lives. The essence of beauty lies in the fact that the truth of life can be translated into the beauty of art. His view of “truth ” is based on three beliefs: black art should be oriented to real life, black art should have independent aesthetic standards, and black art should reveal the essence of life. Hughes’s aesthetic thoughts reflect his artistic pursuit and social ideal in the Harlem Renaissance.
