Colored glaze is a building material that is more solid than timber and more stunning than stone. Its bright and glistening luster gives both form and face to the architecture.China’s study and making of colored glaze can be traced to the Song Dynasty and culminated during the Ming and Qing dynasties. In the Qing Dynasty, with a better understanding of the performance of enamel and the craftsmanship of the glaze, people could make different colors like bright yellow, verdigris, peacock blue, dark purple, and milky white. The glaze from this period was characterized by its even texture, tight conglutination and clear, bright colors.
