“在新的世纪,一些优势产业将成为经济发展的主力军,旅游业就是其中之一。对地处中国中部的湖北来说,旅游业同样将成为全省经济的支柱产业。”日前,湖北省旅游局局长杜云生在接受本刊记者专访时,开门见山地亮出了自己的这一观点。旅游业已成为全球第一大支柱产业杜云生曾长期在地方工作,去年9月方由仙桃市市长调任省旅游局局长。虽然到任时间不长,但由于以前有过分管旅游的经历,加上几个月的深入调研,杜云生对旅游作为一个产业的发展历程和巨大潜力已了然于胸。他和记者首先从这个话题谈起——现代旅游业崛起于“二战”后,很快就成为工业化社会发展最快的产业之一,90年代以来成为与汽车、石油业并驾齐驱的三大支柱产业,目前已跃升为全球第一大产业。旅游业与其他行业相比具有明显的优势:其一,市场需求旺盛。国际研究资料表明,在当代,旅游是消费者仅次于食品和住房的第三大消费项目;
