Since the 1990s, great changes have taken place in the overall pattern of China’s newspaper industry. Since the establishment of the newspaper group by the Guangzhou Daily in January 1996, China has set up 26 newspaper groups one after another. The salient features of these groups are the mainstream media at or above the provincial level in central cities as the main body, the integration of multiple media resources, showing a cross-regional and cross-media development. The so-called mainstream media refers to the media that plays a leading role in public opinion in a certain city or region. It is authoritative, close and unique, with a wide range of audiences and a high degree of credibility.
