彭咏梧原名彭庆帮,于1915年出生于云阳县红鹿乡(今红狮镇彭家湾)一个贫苦农民家庭。22岁时,考入四川省万县师范学校的他走上革命道路,于1938年10月加入共产党,任该校特支书记。1940年,离校后的他接任云阳县委书记,着手整顿党的组织,营救同志,开展抗日救亡活动。1941年秋,他离职后从下川东到达重庆,充实重庆市委,任第一委员。在那个时期,他领导重庆大中学校师生进行反抗美军暴行大游行,创办《挺进报》。
PENG Yong-wu Formerly known as Peng Hing Bang, Born in 1915 in Hongyang Township, Yunyang County (now Red Lion Town Peng Jia Wan) a poor peasant family. At the age of 22, he entered the Wanxian Normal School in Sichuan Province and embarked on the road to revolution. In October 1938, he joined the Communist Party and became secretary of special account for the school. In 1940, after leaving school, he succeeded Yunyang county party secretary, started to rectify the party’s organization, rescue the comrades, carry out anti-Japanese national salvation activities. In the autumn of 1941, he left Chongqing from the east to the east after he left the post, filling the Chongqing Municipal Party Committee and serving as the first member. During that period, he led the teachers and students of Chongqing’s middle and secondary schools to march against the U.S. atrocities and founded the Progressive Newspaper.
