本文以霍克思《红楼梦》译本为中心,辅以杨宪益、戴乃迭的合译本,从功能语言学的角度来讨论译本书写层面上的问题。文章从标点符号、拼写、大小写、语法等方面评析霍译本几个信件的英译现象,指出潘又安、贾芸信件的译文有偏离正规英语的征象。接着,文章采用功能语言学的视角,侧重从tenor(语旨)、field(语场)、mode(语式)三方面来说明译文“异象”的可能理据。作者指出译本中的“前景化”是“创译”的结晶,这些现象有助于我们思考“翻译空间”的问题。
This paper focuses on the translation of Hawkes’ “A Dream of Red Mansions”, supplemented by the translation of Yang Hsien-Yi and Gladys Diane, and discusses the problems of the translation of the translated version from the perspective of functional linguistics. The article analyzes the English translation of several translations in Huo Yingben from punctuation, spelling, case and grammar, and points out that the translations of Pan You’an and Jia Yun ’s letters deviate from the signs of formal English. Then, the article adopts the perspective of functional linguistics and focuses on the possible reasons for interpreting translation “visions ” in three aspects: tenor, field and mode. The author points out that “foregrounding ” in translation is the crystallization of “translation ”, and these phenomena help us to think about “translation space ”.
