计算机输出缩微胶卷系统,是把计算机的二进制代码变换成可见文字或图象后,直接记录在缩微胶卷(胶片)上,并能对记录在胶卷(胶片)上的数据实行自动检索的一种新型的数据输出系统。这种系统,通常被简称为 COM系统。但严格地讲,“COM”包含着三种意义:计算机输出缩微胶卷(Computer OutputMicrofilm),指的是用于记录计算机输出的缩微胶卷;计算机输出缩微胶卷装置(Computer Out-put Microfilmer),指的是把计算机的输出记录在缩微胶卷上的一种记录装置;计算机输出缩微胶卷记录(Computer Out-put Microfilming),指的是把计算机的输出记录在缩微胶卷上的方法。
