我国的矿山测量事业虽然早在古代就已随着采矿业的发展而出现了,但正规的矿山测量教育则是在新中国成立之后才开始的.从1953年在原北京矿业学院建立了我国第一个矿山测量专业起,发展到1982年止,全国已有九所大学(煤炭系统五所、冶金系统三所、核工业部一所)设立了矿山测量专业。有五个大学和科研单位招收了矿山测量研究生。这些单位到1982年止共为国家培养了3668名大学生(包括文革中入学的1453人)和22名研究生。另外还有九所中等专业学校(冶金系统四所、煤炭系统五所)设立了矿山测量专业。也为全国矿山输送了大批矿山测量技术人才。
Although China's mine surveying business has existed with the development of mining industry since ancient times, formal surveying of mine surveying began only after the founding of New China.
