NASA has chosen 39 small business proposals for the second phase of SBIR negotiations, which NASA will award to some 36 small high-tech companies from 17 states worth about $ 27 million. SBIR is designed to inspire small businesses to develop new technologies that support NASA’s needs. The second phase of SBIR marks a significant milestone for these projects and will move from drawings to laboratories. In order to meet the needs of NASA, the second phase also provides innovative research in commercial applications. For example, as part of NASA’s scientific discovery, the SBIR project will develop new technologies that can greatly improve the exploration of the solar system
