8月17日至22日,4年一届的女子水球世界杯决赛在新西兰基督城举办。中国队、美国队、澳大利亚队、俄罗斯队、加拿大队、匈牙利队、希腊队以及东道主新西兰队8支队伍参加了决赛阶段的角逐。除中国队和新西兰队外,其余6支队伍是2009年世界游泳锦标赛女子水球比赛前6名队伍。经过6天24场的激烈争夺,最终美国队取得冠军,澳大利亚获得亚军,而中国队则取得了组队以来的最好成绩——铜牌,实现了历史性的突破。
August 17 to 22, the 4-year term of the Women’s Water Polo World Cup finals held in Christchurch, New Zealand. Eight teams from China, the United States, Australia, Russia, Canada, Hungary, Greece and host New Zealand took part in the finals. In addition to the Chinese team and New Zealand team, the remaining six teams are the 2009 World Aquatics Championship women’s water polo six teams. After six days of fierce competition in 24 games, the United States eventually won the championship, Australia won the runner-up, and the Chinese team has made the team since the best result - bronze medal, to achieve a historic breakthrough.
