中国共产党是八桂抗日的中流砥柱,周恩来、李克农、叶剑英等先后指导八路军驻桂林办事处工作,推动桂林抗日救亡运动深入发展。桂林抗日文化城影响深远,为桂林留下了丰富的抗战文化遗址。其中,八路军驻桂林办事处旧址是全国重点文物保护单位、全国爱国主义教育示范基地、全国重点革命遗址保护单位。此外,还有李济深、何香凝、李任仁等著名民主革命家故居。
