夏山学校到底是个什么样子呢?首先,上课是自由的,孩子们可以上课,也可以不上,只要他们喜欢,他们可以终年不上课。学校确“有”课程表,但这只是给老师们预备的。孩子们多半由年龄来分年级,有时也依其兴趣而定。我们没有新的教学方法,因为我们并不觉得教学方法本身很重要。一个学校采不采用新的多位除法的教法并不重要,只有对那些想学多位除法的人来说,多位除法才重要,而且如果一个孩子真的要学它的话,不论什么教法,他都能学会的。
