背越式跳高技术相对简单易学。它那独特的起跳技术和优美的过杆动作吸引了广大青少年。运用背越式跳高技术,许多青少年的成绩得以大幅度提高。由于背越式的过杆姿势是背对横杆,所以“过早倒体”是初学者最常见的错误动作。从有关资料统计,90%初学者都有不同程度的“过早倒体”的错误动作,它是影响掌握背越式跳高完整技术的主要因素,“过早倒体”的实质是起跳时身体重心偏离起跳点指向横杆造成偏心起跳,偏心角越大对起跳效果影响越大。因此对造成“过早倒体”的原因分析和研究无疑对指导初学者避免或改正这一错误动作具有重要意义。
