The crystal structure of a hexagonal phase in the sputter-deposited Al-Fe-V-Si alloy was studied by using the selected electron diffraction and convergent beam diffraction. The lattice constants are a-2.52 cm and c = 1.26 nm. The population is P6 / mmm, and the hexagonal and cubic phases have a fixed orientation relationship, and EDS analysis shows that the two phases have similar compositions. The systematic comparative analysis of SAED patterns shows that the diffraction characteristics of the icosahedron structural elements with cubic phases of some of the hexagonal phase diffraction spectra show that the hexagonal phase is also a quasicrystalline approximation crystal phase and its structural framework may be represented by Fe + V) and (AI + Si) double-layer icosahedral structure elements stacked in three different orientations
