‘我所感興趣的,只是從一種國家統治的神話中,揭穿一個起碼的真理。’馬力昂(George Marion)在他的‘基地與帝國’一書中,這樣說明了他寫這本書的目的。所謂國家的神話,是指美國如何的痛惡領土的擴張,馬歇爾國務卿如何激烈地駁斥別人所加於美國的‘帝國主義國家’的頭銜。事實的真相,已經由作者用無情的憤怒和力量揭玻了,這就是:‘事實上,美國在軍事方面控制了領土以外一四、七二五、○○○方哩長的土地,並擁有六六七、八一五、○○○人口的“臣民”。’
What I am interested in is only to reveal a minimum truth from the myth of a state ruling. George Marion, in his book Al-Qaida and Empire, illustrates his purpose in writing this book. The so-called national myth refers to the expansion of the atrocious territory of the United States and how Secretary of State Marshall fiercely refuted the title others put upon the United States as an “imperialist country.” The fact that the truth has been exposed by the author with ruthless anger and strength is: ’In fact, the United States has military control over the land of 14,725,500 km long and owns Sixty-seven, eight one five, “population” of the “subjects.” ’
