The short story “he” selected here is one of his representative representations of expressionism. This novel was written in 1912, when Andreyev detached himself from the style of reconciling symbolism with realism and began to pursue a subjective and spiritual reality that represented man “For the purpose of art. In this work, the writer has created a ”pure“ environment in which the hero can express his emotions and ideas fully, in which the living and the phantom, the dream and the reality, the life and the death are seamless Integration. The characters in the works appear so morbidly tense that the plot is so bizarre that it fully shows the characteristics of expressionist art. From this work, it is not hard for readers to produce some of the effects of Dostoyevsky and Allan Poe. Translation from the Soviet Union Soviet Union Russian Press 1977 edition ”Andreyev Collection."
