洪深是中国早期电影拓荒者之一，不仅在戏剧与电影剧本创作方面成绩显著，他的电影批评和电影理论著述在中国电影理论史上也具有不容忽视的地位。洪深30年代的电影批评文章，以眼光敏锐、视野开阔、政治倾向鲜明和分析科学缜密见长，对左翼电影的兴起起到了促进作用。他的四部电影理论著述既体现了学者型理论著述的特点，同时又通俗易懂，具有指导创作实践的实用价值。这些著作，在相当程度上奠定了我国现代电影剧作论和表演论的基础。
Hong Shen is one of the earliest film pioneers in China. He not only made remarkable achievements in drama and screenwriting, but also his film criticism and movie theory writings have an important position in the history of Chinese film theory. Hong Kong films criticism in the 1930s, with sharp eyes, broad vision, clear political orientation and analytical science meticulously, played a role in promoting the rise of the left-wing film. His four film theory writings not only reflect the characteristics of scholarly theoretical writings, but also easy to understand, with the practical value of guiding creative practice. To a certain extent, these works have laid the foundation for the theory of modern drama and performance in our country.
