山东省图书馆建馆80周年。名书竹帛、事业垂史,上面刻着近现代中国文化事业发展的年轮,有所谓“口碑载道。谁识蹉跎”?80年大庆,新旧两个40年,在这继往开来的新的历史关节点上,我作为曾在馆里担任过领导工作的老同志,喜庆、感慨参半,回首往事,不免心潮翻腾。建馆的前40年,省图书馆是伴随着战乱、屈辱而诞生、维持的。在半封建半殖民地的旧中国,对社会进步有益的各项事业,发展起来都步履维艰。一些热衷于藏书、读书的社会贤达及知名学者致力建馆,使之成为我国早期建成的少数省级公共图书馆之一,着实难能可贵。但因社会背景动荡,藏书屡聚屡失,痛遭劫难。特别是“七七”事变后,日寇侵略,炮火叠起,除少数珍善本图书得以运走外,其余曾
