McLuhan argues that any media or any technology will change the scale, schedule, or form of human activity. In this sense, McLuhan emphasizes the cultural significance of the media rather than the content conveyed by the media. This provides a new perspective on media studies traditionally thought of as non-neutral media. In fact, the media corresponds to the cultural model of a particular society, so it is not by chance that the formation and distribution of media in this society. The article will first specifically discuss the practical significance of McLuhan’s viewpoint in today’s world: what are the trends of media ecology in the face of the spread and application of digital media across national and social systems, and the resulting mediaization process? Next, the author tries to relate culture and citizenship to interpret the information conveyed by contemporary digital media.
