In 2002, Bleefeld and Bock found that a unique anatomical structure on the calcaneus - the calcaneal tube - exists only in present-day and fossil-birding Species but absent in rodents and related taxa, and considers this unique Anatomical features support that the rabbit is a monophyletic group. A review of the IVEC V 7422 specimen found in the buried hills of the Qianshan Mountains in Anhui Province shows that there is also a clear calcaneal tube on the calcaneus, allowing us to revisit this unique anatomical feature. Combined with microscopy and CT scanning techniques, it was found that there were large calcaneal tubes in the order of Dawsonolagus, Ordolagus, etc. The import and export were all connected with the medullary canal inside the body. In the double-gnathostomial genus Mimolagus, Gomphos There is also a clear calcaneal tube in the single-dentate Rhombomylus. Therefore, the presence of the calcaneal tube may be a common proximate trait of the rodents, and also supports the closer relationship between the rabbit and rodents.
