太平湾一直就是老烟台人心中无法抹去的美好记忆。太平湾,南依海岸长街,东靠烟台山角,西有停泊码头,北横防波长堤,形成屏障四立的港口。再加上港口外面有芝罘岛、崆峒岛等天然屏障,港内风平浪静,面阔水深。在百余年前,这种条件无疑是一个优良的港湾,人们取吉祥之意,称它为“太平湾”。透过太平湾的开埠建设、历史传承和时代兴衰,人们可以看到烟台作为一个港口城市发展的脉络。明初,太平湾已然成为海上运输和捕捞渔船的重要停泊避风港,年有‘舟师数万’。
Taiping Bay has always been a beautiful memory that old Yantai people can not erase. Pacific Bay, according to the South Coast Street, east of Yantai Hill, west of the mooring pier, Beigan cross-wave dike, forming a barrier four seaports. Coupled with the port outside the Zhifu Island, 崆 峒 Island and other natural barrier, Hong Kong calm, Miankuo depth. Over a hundred years ago, this condition was undoubtedly an excellent harbor. People took the auspicious meaning and called it “Taiping Bay.” Through the opening of the Taiping Bay construction, historical heritage and the rise and fall of the times, one can see the development of Yantai as a port city context. At the beginning of the Ming Dynasty, Taiping Bay has become an important harbor for haven for maritime transport and fishing of fishing vessels.
