刘勰《文心雕龙?乐府》中评价文学艺术时采用了“礼”和“文”的标准,即政治标准和艺术标准,这种评价差异性是由乐府是否配乐性决定的。配乐的诗歌往往具有政治色彩,被运用到各种政治外交场合,如祭祀、宴飨、飨军;而不配乐的诗歌一般运用在非正式场合。对于配乐的诗歌评价的标准要比不配乐的诗歌更为严苛。
