在振兴经济、实现四化的事业中,岩土工程可以而且应该起很大的作用。但由于体制上的弊端、条块分割,使岩土工程的潜力得不到发挥。本文针对这种情况,提出建立岩土工程研究中心的必要性并论述了当前的主攻方向:解剖典型的工程项目、研究沿海的软土地基,重视对海洋土、黄土等特殊土的研究,以及提高科学管理水平,政策配套,发挥岩土中心的作用,将有关科研与工程的勘察设计与施工连在一起,为国家创造财富,开拓外向型高技术事业,争取使我国在这方面进入国际市场。
