上海博物馆旧藏的一件女■方鼎,对其年代的认定历来颇有争议。通过对商末周初方鼎的比较分析,女■方鼎所体现的商晚期特征比较突出。器内壁铸铭文十七个字,“女■”之“女”字磨沥较甚,过去旧释为“■”有误,“堇”应当读为“勤”。铭文的大意为女■勤于王事有功,在癸日这一天,王赏赐了■二朋贝,为此而作祭器。
