甘薯华叶虫是我省甘薯产区主要害虫之一,它在甘薯整个生长期中都能为害。成虫最喜啃食刚扦插后的薯苗嫩梢、叶柄及茎蔓,致使植株枯萎,常造成严重缺株。幼虫在土下食害薯块皮层,有时蛀入薯块内为害,使甘薯产量和质量都遭受巨大损失。过去采用人工扑杀或大田喷药消灭成虫和浇灌六六六等药液防治幼虫,虽然都有一定的抑制作用,但是由于化工多、用药量大,防治效果不够理想,大面积推广应用还有困难,加以苗期浇灌六六六药
