Since the reform and opening up, along with the rapid development of the national economy, the health and epidemic prevention work in Hunan Province has made great progress, and the living standards and health standards of the people have significantly improved. In 1996, the incidence of infectious diseases in the province was 126.68 per 100,000, a decrease of 5.43% from the previous year, and 66.4% lower than that of 1986 (377.91 per 100,000). This is the emphasis of party committees and governments at all levels on the work of sanitation and epidemic prevention. The result of joint efforts of all sanitation and epidemic prevention personnel is also related to the rational allocation of sanitation resources.
