[IAEA Bulletin, June 1980] A new high-capacity waste-glass breaking test set-up has been put into operation at the West Karlsruhe Nuclear Research Center. The purpose of this device is to make the glass curing process technology mature. The installation was built considering the experience gained in the first prototype in years. The new device can cure 30 liters of fission product solution continuously per hour, with a total weight of 18 kg of solidified glass. This amount of curing is almost equal to the amount of curing the official factory in the future. In order to facilitate access to the device, in a continuous test, a chemical phase will be used
