The “Happy Yellow Handkerchief” presented at this year’s “Japan Film Week” is based on a very exciting story published by the U.S. columnist Pieter Hammer in the New York Times on October 14, 1971, The full text of Reader’s Digest is reproduced and introduced to the whole country and all over the world. The following year, the story was adapted into a TV series and was popularized by Dawn Club as a popular song entitled “Happy Yellow Ribbon.” Lyrics read as follows: Department of a yellow ribbon in the old oak, three years apart still waiting for me? If I do not see the oak hanging yellow ribbon, I sat on the car does not come down. Forget the past, blame me not good.
