老年人是人口的重要组成部分,而世界人口老龄化是一种趋势。据联合国世界卫生组织的资料,到2000年世界老年人口将达到6亿,其中2/3将生活在发展中国家。预测到2020年中国和印度的老年人将达到2.7亿。在一些发展中国家,60 a以上人口增长率比总人口增长率快,估计从1980年到2020年发展中国家总人口将增加95%,而老年人口增加却高达240%。尽管我国目前尚未列入老年型国家,但因人口居世界第一,无论现在还是将来中国都是世界上老年人口最多的国家。因此老年人中的任何问题都将对全社会产生举足
The elderly are an important part of the population, and the aging of the world population is a trend. According to the UN World Health Organization, the world’s elderly population will reach 600 million by the year 2000, of which two-thirds will live in developing countries. It is estimated that the number of seniors in China and India will reach 270 million by 2020. In some developing countries, the rate of population growth over the 60-year period is higher than the total population. It is estimated that the total population of developing countries will increase by 95% from 1980 to 2020, while the elderly population will increase by as much as 240%. Although China is not yet an elder country, its population ranks first in the world and China now and in the future is the world’s population with the largest elderly population. Therefore, any problem among the elderly will have an important bearing on the whole society
