南刺五加为五加科植物,历代本草医籍均有记载。《本草纲目》中的五加,就是指的南刺五加。它与药店用的北五加、或香五加不同。北五加是属萝藦科的杠柳皮,有小毒。南刺五加药用其根皮,以秋后春前挖取为宜。
Nancao Wujia is an Araliaceae plant and has been documented throughout the history of herbal medicine. In the “Compendium of Materia Medica,” the Five Pluses refers to the five species of N. spinosa. It is different from North Wujiao or Xiang Wu Jia used by pharmacies. North Wujia is a willow bark of the genus Locust. It has a small poison. Nanxiong Wujiao used its root bark to dig it in the spring before autumn.
