Founded in 1952, the school is the first county secondary school approved by the North Jiangsu Administrative Department. In 1995, it was upgraded to a key high school in Jiangsu Province. In 2002, it was promoted to a national demonstration high school. In 2004, it was voted the first batch of four-star schools in Jiangsu Province.
