To clarify the mechanism of human hypoxic pulmonary vasoconstriction, the changes of the tension of human pulmonary artery segment (2mm> 0.D) were measured by isometric contraction after being suspended. RESULTS: Pulmonary artery contraction induced by hypoxia (PO 2 = 43 Torr, about 5.7 kPa) resulted in a tension of 127 ± 36 mg after 15 minutes. 10 ~ (-6) ML-isoproterenol, 10 ~ (-6) M nitroglycerin can completely block such reactions, 10 ~ (-4) -10 ~ (-6) M verapamil only part (6) M diphenhydramine, 10 ~ (-6) M diphenhydramine, 10 ~ (-6) M diphenhydramine, 10 ~ (-7) MFPL55712 had no effect on it, while 10 ~ (-6) MBAYK8 644,10 ~ (-3) M procaine, 3 × 10 ~ (-6) M
