蒋礼鸿先生生前曾对自己的治学经验和学术道路有过自述;几十年来也有人对蒋先生的语言研究成就、学术思想进行过归纳。《蒋礼鸿集·前言》对先生学术思想和鲜明的学术风格及特色的归纳大致如下:(1)秉承清代乾嘉学派谨严、塌实、实事求是、锲而不舍的学风,以学术为天下公器。(2)在理论上,深得“训诂之旨本于声音”之奥秘精义,据语音推寻故言,每每能引申触类,不限形体,一洗缘词生训之弊。同时借鉴现代语言理论,融古今理论为一体,指导学术实践。而且,他从词汇整体结构性着眼,将词语放入共时与历时框架中探索词义词
