西夏是以党项族为主体建立起来的封建王朝,他与宋、辽(后为金)鼎立,立国长达190年。西夏文化包括其服饰文化是丰富多彩的。但长期以来,因为资料较少,人们对此不大了解。近年来,西夏服饰资料发现、刊布较多,如敦煌莫高窟、安西榆林窟的壁画中,内蒙古额济纳旗黑水城出土的佛画中,均有大量西夏供养人形象。又如在近年刊布的一些西夏文献中,有不少涉及西夏服饰的记载。从这些资料中,可以看出,西夏服饰既受到中原王朝主要是汉族服饰的影响,也吸收了周边少数民族,特别是回鹘服饰的特点,从而形成了有自己特色的、丰富多彩的西夏服饰。以下分别男子、女子服饰两个方面作介绍。
