美国“科学的哲学”杂志1958年7月号发表的约考伯森的评论,对本书作了比较详尽的介绍。评论开头说:作者虽对四五个主要宇宙模型学说给我们作了异常清楚的概括叙述,但主旨倒不是要我们考虑“宇宙是有限的还是无限的?”或者“有没有物质创造?”这类问题,而是要我们考虑这些问题的正确意义。譬如说,我们用“宇宙”这个名词时究竟是什么意思?以及我们究竟能给“物质创造”这个术语什么精确意义?
The review of John Cobbson, published in the July 1958 issue of the American Journal of Philosophy of Science, gives a more detailed introduction to the book. The commentary begins with an introduction: Although the author gave us a very clear overview of the four or five major models of the cosmology, the idea is not that we should consider whether the universe is finite or infinite? Or whether there is material creation? But rather to consider the correct meaning of these issues. For example, what exactly does it mean when we use the term “universe” and what precisely do we mean by the term “material creation”?
