新中国成立后头十七年的电影创作(以下简称“十七年电影”),是在以《在延安文艺座谈会上的讲话》(以下简称《讲话》)为基础的毛泽东文艺思想的指导下进行并发展起来的。在当时,《讲话》确实是包括电影工作者在内的全体文艺工作者的行动指南与纲领。用一句时髦的话来说,就是“主流意识形态”。因此,我们完全有理由可以拿“十七年电影”的积极成果,来印证《讲话》在指导新中国电影创作的发展中所起的极其重要的作用。当然,这并不是说在当时复杂的社会文化环境下,由于对《讲话》精神曾有过某些简单化的理解而在实践过程中没有出现过失误。

This does not mean, of course, that in the complicated socio-cultural context of the time, no mistakes were made in the practice because of some simplistic understanding of the “speech” spirit.
