This article describes a method to quickly calculate the geometric relationships of the connecting rods of the structure. These relationships are often necessary in structural analysis. For example, when the angular displacement equation is used for elastic analysis or the combined machine method is used for plastic analysis, the angular displacement relationship of the structural member is usually required. It should be noted that the virtual work equations provide a simple way to quickly obtain the required relationships. I. Basic Concepts The basic features of this method can be illustrated by the following two examples: Example 1 Now consider the ribbed rigid frame in Figure 1.
