河边民俗馆设在阎锡山旧居,地处山西省定襄县河边村(原属五台县).河边村,依山面水.东靠文山,山脚下,人们修了层层梯田,好似斑斓的虎纹,远远望去,全村仿佛靠在虎背上.西临滹沱河,岸上托起—片平展展的肥沃土地,铁路、公路从南向北穿过.每到稼熟稔丰的季节,登高远眺,红、绿、黄、白、青五色相间,河边村又好似盘坐在五彩的地毯上.这里,风光秀丽,景色迷人,历史上就成为一个富裕繁华的大村.1000多户人家,顺着山势居住在山脚下,高高低低,形成18个堡子,南北长达五六华里.
