外膜是血管壁的重要组成部分。近期研究表明血管外膜的功能不仅局限于外膜,而且亦可影响中膜和内膜。外膜在血管病变中起着重要作用。血管外膜具有强大的神经-内分泌-免疫调节系统,对血管的结构和功能有重要影响;血管外膜具有丰富的滋养血管,血管内的血流动力学变化可导致新生血管的生成,并且和多种疾病有关;血管外膜的成纤维细胞的增殖在血管阻塞性疾病的发生发展中扮演着重要的角色。从血管外膜的结构和功能以及外膜在血管病变中的作用两个方面进行了阐述。以期为血管病变的治疗提供新靶点。
