The article “New Art” published in 1997 first issue of a group of art history research in Europe and America, open-minded, benefited a lot, for our art history research is of great benefit. It also reminds me of the introduction of the Art Translation Series to Gombrich and Wolfen and Panovsky and others ten years ago. Compared with the historians recently introduced, they can be said to be Old Masters, a little outdated. However, I still think that their writings are worth reading repeatedly. The role of classics is not only that they are always motivated by academic developments, but that they also confirm the easy-going truth of those who are quick-changers. As a methodological discussion, I would like to introduce the reader to a discussion of Gombrich and Burke. This discussion shows the relationship between art history and cultural history and its contribution to culture. The broader field of vision shows the unity of human knowledge that can not be dreamed up by those who are known by their expertise. (The following words of Burk use the imitation of Times New Roman, the words of Gombrich in Times New Roman, to show the difference.)
