1998年,华侨委员会在全国人大及其常委会的领导下,全体委员共同努力,工作取得了新的进展。世纪之交的1999年,我们将在全国人大及其常委会的领导下,高举邓小平理论伟大旗帜,按照谢非副委员长对华侨委八项工作的要求,开拓进取,抓好以下工作:(一)做好涉侨立法工作。我委将继续与法工委密切合作,召开研讨会或座谈会,广泛征求中央和地方有关部门对社会公益事业捐赠法草案的意见,俟条件成熟时,提交全国人大常委会审议。我委将在总结几个省份对修改或解释归侨侨眷权益保护法意见和建议的基础上,继续组织调研。在条件成熟时,规划和组织实施下一阶段的具体修改工作。进一步做好归侨侨眷兴办企业法的立法调研工作。
In 1998, under the leadership of the National People’s Congress and its Standing Committee, the overseas Chinese committee made joint efforts and made new progress in its work.
