作为马克思主义文学批评中国化探索的一个重要截面,抗战时期文艺理论界关于“民族形式”的论争,形成了论争产生之原因或背景、内容与形式的构成问题、“旧形式利用”问题、“民间形式”问题、“民族形式”问题之学理性质等核心问题域。“民族形式”论争对中国马克思主义文学批评的民族性意识的觉醒、形成与深化起到了正面的推动作用。通过这一系列争论和探索,为中国马克思主义文学批评的民族观注入了丰富的理论内涵,并将民族形式的创造放到民族现实生活的基础上,确立了中国马克思主义文学批评在民族形式创造问题上的现实主义和唯物主义理论原则。
