我国超级杂交稻先锋组合两优培九的试验示范表明,1075亩中稻示范片平均亩产达到703.5公斤。经专家验收,江苏、湖南共有14个百亩片和3个千亩片实收亩产超过700公斤。由中国工程院院士袁隆平主持的“超级杂交稻选育研究”是通过农业部论证的总理基金项目,1998年由江苏省农科院和国家杂交水稻工程研究中心合作选育出超级杂交稻先锋组合两优培九,这一重大成果为我国超级稻的研究作出积极的贡献,对保障21世纪我国粮食安全具有重要意义。
