三天秘书铺就高官要职之路留美博士吴国桢,才华横溢,意气风发。在国民政府湖北省烟酒税务局局长、汉口市和湖北省财政局长、厅长任内,成绩斐然。视吴国桢为“难得之材”的湖北省主席何成浚,向蒋介石推荐。1932年3月的一天,蒋介石在委员长官邸召见吴国桢。简略问讯后蒋介石宣布:“从现在起,你就在我的官邸当秘书。在我会客时,所有来客由你接待,等候接见。平常客人你不需要旁听;需要旁听时不可作记录,但要牢记谈话内容备查。”
