Multi-walled carbon nanotubes and amorphous carbon nanowires were irradiated with H +, N + and Ar + ions at different radiation doses at room temperature and high temperature. Study on Structure Changes and Damage of Multi-walled Carbon Nanotubes and Amorphous Carbon Nanowires by TEM and Raman Spectroscopy. Radiation of multi-walled carbon nanotubes with 70 keV N + ion beam can form amorphous carbon nanowires at room temperature. H + ion beam irradiation at 70 keV at 1000 K led to the transformation of amorphous carbon nanowires to diamond structures. The degree of ordering of the ion-irradiated multi-walled carbon nanotubes is high enough that 70 keV of N + and Ar + ions cause the carbon to peel off from the multi-walled carbon nanotubes. Ionizing radiation can provide the necessary kinetic driving force for the transformation of defects.
